Taste
This will certainly arouse your taste buds, a full bodied ruby-red wine, with a light pepper and a particularly fruity flavour. Prominently you will taste black fruits, blackcurrants and plums. In the background one will be able to detect the typical taste of the Syrah grape. A muscular wine with a beautiful structure, potent and stylish with a deliciously long finish. Ripened for 18 months in French barrels made out of oak wood. Of course this wine deserves decantation. Remains in excellent condition for at least 8 years after the harvest date.

A flavoursome suggestion

About this wine
Almost 25 years ago, when almost nobody in Europe had heard about wine from Chile, there were 4 devoted winemakers who started growing and producing a selection of top quality wines. With their unlimited ambition and passion they were set on bringing the Chilean wine to the top of the world. And they succeeded.

Under the inspired leadership of the proud Aurelio Montes, using the name ‘Vina Montes S.A.’ this wine house grew out to be one of the leading brands. These top of the range wines are now available to order at YourSurprise, with or without a personal photo label.

The wine is grown on the steep slopes of the Apalta in Colchagua (Central Valley) by the Tinquiririca river, a fine micro-climate and an ideal soil structure with limited organic material. The name ‘Folly’ is derived from the fact that the other wine producers declared Aurelio Montes to be mad when he decided to plant his Syrah grapevines against the slopes at such an immense height. You can taste the result of his unconventional methods and decide for yourself.
